This Off-Season, Snowmass Village Runs Through the Snowmass Center

From November 1 until JUS Snowmass returns in mid-November, Base Village has no restaurant on the Fall 2026 seasonal closures list that is open. That gap is in GoSnowmass's Fall 2026 seasonal closures list. Up the hill, all four tenants listed under "Snowmass Center Retail" are marked open all season: Clark's Groceries, Ajax Supply, The Snowmass Dispensary and Sundance Liquor & Gifts. Taster's and The Daly Diner, both Center tenants, are listed open all season under "Other Snowmass Restaurants."

For the next six weeks, the village's center of gravity is a 1960s-era commercial block. Town Council has already approved rebuilding it, with lease terms written to keep those same tenants in place.

The Closures Still Ahead, by Date

As of October 12, much of the resort core has already gone quiet. New Belgium Ranger Station and The Stew Pot closed September 27. Aurum Food & Wine and Venga Venga closed October 3. Kenichi Snowmass closed October 10. The Four Mountain Sports shops on the Mall closed October 11.

The rest of the list closes over the next three weeks:

  1. October 13: Snowmass Trading Company
  2. October 15: Capranea
  3. October 18: The Lounge at the Limelight
  4. October 19: Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill
  5. October 24: Gorsuch Ski Cafe
  6. October 25: Après Deck at the Viewline
  7. November 1: Cafe V, Lift Line and Toro, all at the Viceroy
  8. November 2: Alux Spalon in Base Village, which reopens a week later on November 9

The Viceroy's three outlets close last. Once they close on November 1, Base Village's restaurant list has nothing open until JUS Snowmass returns in mid-November, followed by Kenichi on November 20. Montevino, Slope & Hatch at The Collective and Sundae Ice Cream closed in late September or early October, and the list gives no reopening date for any of them.

The Collective Snowmass has also closed its Game Lounge and Selfie Den from September 28 through November 26, according to its off-season notice. For now, the clearest community event on the Snowmass calendar is at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Spooktacular Creepy Crafts runs October 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It includes trick-or-treating through the artist studios and a costume contest at 4:15 p.m. with awards for "Most Creative" and "Best Homemade Costume."

GoSnowmass adds that businesses commonly close Mondays and Tuesdays in the off-season and that hours shift as reopening dates get closer. It suggests calling ahead before any visit.

What the List Shows Open

Here is everything the GoSnowmass list marks as open through fall or open all season, grouped by where it sits.

Snowmass Center

  • Clark's Groceries
  • Taster's, which closes only on Thanksgiving Day
  • The Daly Diner
  • Sundance Liquor & Gifts
  • Ajax Supply
  • The Snowmass Dispensary

Snowmass Mall

  • The Tavern and Zane's Tavern, both open through fall
  • Daly Bottle & Grain Fine Food
  • Guapodog
  • Christy Sports, on reduced hours
  • Challenge Aspen

Base Village

  • TAC Fitness at One Snowmass East
  • Eye Pieces of Snowmass, which may reduce hours

Several well-known Mall names have blanks in both date columns, including Il Poggio, Heather's at the Stonebridge Inn, Snacfood and Snowmass Lanes with 105 Pizza + Bowl. The list doesn't say whether they're open, so check with each business directly.

Only one cluster can cover groceries, a sit-down breakfast, pizza, hardware and a bottle of wine on any given Tuesday in early November. That cluster is the Snowmass Center. The Center's tenant directory also lists the post office, Cleaner Express, Slopeside Sewing and Snowmass Chiropractic.

The Same Tenants, Written Into the Redevelopment

Town Council unanimously approved a redevelopment design for the Snowmass Center on January 21, 2025, as reported by The Aspen Times. The design came from owner Eastwood Snowmass Investors. It grows the center's footprint by 24%, expands Clark's Market and doubles the size of the post office. The approval also let the town buy more than three acres behind the center for $12.5 million, to be used for up to 130 units of workforce housing.

Several of the businesses that stay open this off-season appear by name in that coverage. The Aspen Times reported that the current food and beverage tenants may extend their leases through the redevelopment:

  • Clark's until 2054
  • Sundance until 2044
  • Taster's and The Daly Diner until 2041

The same Aspen Times article quoted Council member Cecily DeAngelo on the approval's conditions:

"I want to be sure that any existing tenant is not facing a bill that's going to put them out of business in order to stay in the Snowmass Center."

The Aspen Times also reported that Council passed a condition requiring the landowners to rent space to tenants at fair market rates for at least 10 years. According to the same report, the approved design reserves space for multiple restaurants. That includes built-in plumbing and utility infrastructure such as grease interception.

As of this fall, the redevelopment is still a plan, and no construction start has been announced. Eastwood's project page says the sale of the 2.9-acre residential parcel to the town is complete. That split the housing and commercial parcels so each can move on its own schedule. For the commercial core, Eastwood states plainly that "there is no fixed timeline for the broader redevelopment." So this off-season, the Snowmass Center is running as it always has, with lease protections already in place for its anchor tenants whenever work begins.

The Return, Day by Day

The village reopens in a tight wave around opening day. Aspen Daily News reported that Snowmass is scheduled to open November 26, Thanksgiving Day, with the season running through April 11, 2027, as conditions allow.

Here is the GoSnowmass reopening calendar:

  1. November 9: Alux Spalon
  2. Mid-November: Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill; JUS Snowmass
  3. November 20: Grub Thai, Smash & Dash Burger, Kenichi Snowmass
  4. November 21: Gorsuch Ski Cafe
  5. November 23: Après Deck; Cafe V, Lift Line and Toro at the Viceroy; One Vibe, Snowmass T-Shirt Co and Snowmass Trading Company
  6. November 25: The Lounge at the Limelight; both Four Mountain Sports Mall locations
  7. November 26: Aurum Food & Wine, Base Camp Bar and Grille, Crepe Therapy Cafe, New Belgium Ranger Station, The Stew Pot; Four Mountain Kids and the Base Village Four Mountain Sports shops; Snowmass Sports; Incline Sports
  8. November 27: Venga Venga, Sunglass Panache
  9. December 1: The Edge at the Timberline
  10. December 7: Ro + Fern
  11. December 10: Pinecreek Cookhouse

Opening day is also Thanksgiving, and Taster's is closed for the holiday. The Snowmass Center's pizza counter takes its one day off of the off-season on the day the lifts start turning.

Several returning venues will look different this winter. Ullrhof, the mid-mountain restaurant, has been rebuilt from the ground up since summer 2025. Snowmass Tourism's winter announcement says it reopens for 2026–27 as Aspen Snowmass's first fully electric restaurant, with seating for more than 600. The same release says the 93-room Stonebridge Inn reopens in December after a $15.7 million renovation. The Timberline Condominiums are finishing the last phase of a $25 million multi-year renovation. Après Deck also faces its first winter. eatAspen reported that it opened slopeside by the Viewline on the Mall in summer 2026.

The Collective plans new winter programming once its doors reopen, including Collective Conversations, Community Lunch & Learn workshops and a Sunday Social Club. One familiar piece of the village stays as it is for another season. Aspen Daily News reported that construction on the replacement for the Sky Cab gondola, known locally as "Skittles," is scheduled to start in August 2027, with the new lift opening Thanksgiving 2027.

Until mid-November, the dependable addresses in Snowmass Village are Clark's, Taster's, The Daly Diner, Sundance and Ajax Supply, all under one roof at the Snowmass Center.
